Chandigarh is a city and a union territory of India that serves as the capital of the Indian states of Haryana and Punjab. Chandigarh was one of the early planned cities in the post-independence India and is internationally known for its architecture and urban design.
Shimla is the capital city Himachal Pradesh. It lies in the south-western ranges of the Himalayas at an average altitude of 2,206 metres (7,238 ft) above mean sea level and extends along a ridge with seven spurs. The city stretches nearly 9.2 kilometres (5.7 mi) from east to west.
Dharamshala is a compound of Dharma and Shala. English would be 'Spiritual Dwelling'. It refers to a shelter or rest house for spiritual pilgrims. Traditionally known for Kangra green tea, Dharamshala now produces all teas including black tea, green tea, oolong tea and white teas, in addition to the popular Kashmiri Kahwa and Masala Chai.
Amritsar is a city in the northwestern Indian state of Punjab, 28 kilometers from the border with Pakistan. At the center of its walled old town, the gilded Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) is the holiest Gurudwara (religious complex) of the Sikh religion. It’s at the end of a causeway, surrounded by the sacred Amrit Sarovar tank (lake), where pilgrims bath.
