Jaipur  is the capital and the largest city  and became the capital of the state of Rajasthan in 1949. The city is known for its intricately carved jharokas. Karni Mata Mandir, populary known as Rat Temple draws devotees and tourists from far and wide. The much revered temple is dedicated to Goddess Karni Mata, who is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple houses as many as 25,000 rats who are known as Kaabas.

Jodhpur is famous for the distinctive colour of its buildings founded in 1459, the old city is encircled by an imposing wall and accessed through eight magnificent gates. Jodhpur is also known as the sun city because the rulers of the Marwar were sun worshippers and also because the city enjoys bright sun all through the year. It is also called blue city because of the blue painted houses which can be seen from the fort ramparts.

Jaisalmer lies beyond the dazzling royal cities of Rajasthan also known as the gateway to the Thar Desert. It is a popular tourist destination in India that is notable for its incredible yellow stone architecture, the Jaisalmer Fort which is popularly known as 'Sonar Quila'.
