Madurai known as the 'Athens of the East' and "city of nectar", Madurai is the oldest city in Tamil Nadu and was home to the ancient Tamil Sangam, the literary conclave that produced the first epic, Silappathikaram. Today, it is known to produce the best harvests of jasmine flowers. One cannot ignore mention of the Meenakshi Temple, which is as well known for its architectural splendour as also a shelter, which inspired a thousand arts.
Rameswaram is known for one of India's most venerated and most visited Shiva shrines, dedicated to Sri Ramanathaswamy. It is so intimately associated with the life of Sri Rama, the hero of the epic Ramayana, that both Saivites and Vaishnavites consider every grain of Rameswaram's sand very sacred. There is a traditional belief among the Hindus that a pilgrimage to Kashi will be complete only after a visit to Rameswaram, also hailed as "Banaras of the South".

ITINERARY- GURUVAYUR – MADURAI (1N) – RAMESWARAM(1N) – GURUVAYUR (4 Nights/5Days)
Day 01 (Thursday)
Departure from Guruvayur by train no 16128 GUV-MS Express at 2315 Hrs. Overnight train journey.
Day 02(Friday) Madurai
Arrival Madurai at 1210 Hrs. Pick up from Madurai railway station and transfer to the hotel at Madurai. After lunch visit Gandhi Memorial (partly under renovation) and then Madurai Meenakshi Temple and overnight stay at Madurai.
Day 03(Saturday) Madurai-Rameshwaram
After breakfast proceed to Rameswaram, Enroute visit Thiruparankundram temple and APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial. Visit Dhanush Kodi and return to Rameswaram and overnight stay in Rameswaram
Day 04(Sunday) Rameswaram -Madurai
After early breakfast check out and proceed to Ramanathaswami temple and drop at Madurai Railway Station and depart MDU by train no 16127
Day 05(Monday)- Guruvayur Railway Station Drop
Arrival Guruvayur at 0740 Hrs.
