The Chardham Yatra is a revered Hindu pilgrimage to four sacred sites in Uttarakhand: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, undertaken by devotees seeking spiritual blessings

Yamunotri -  The Sacred Source of the Yamuna The starting point of the journey, believed to be the abode of Goddess Yamuna, sister of Yama, the god of death. Yamunotri is one of the four revered pilgrimage sites of the Char Dham. Perched at an altitude of about 3,293 meters, this sacred destination marks the origin of the holy River Yamuna and attracts thousands of devotees and nature lovers every year.

The revered Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, stands amidst breathtaking snow-clad peaks and serene surroundings. Pilgrims undertake a scenic trek from Janki Chatti to reach the temple, passing through picturesque valleys and cascading streams. Nearby hot springs, especially Surya Kund, add to the spiritual experience, where devotees cook rice as prasad.

Gangotri - The Divine Origin of the Ganga A significant pilgrimage site with a temple dedicated to the goddess Ganga. Set amidst the majestic Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand, Gangotri is one of the four sacred shrines of the revered Char Dham. Located at an altitude of around 3,100 meters, this holy destination marks the origin of the River Ganga, worshipped as Goddess Ganga by millions of devotees.

The sacred Gangotri Temple, built in white granite, stands gracefully on the banks of the Bhagirathi River. According to legend, King Bhagirath performed intense penance here to bring the Ganga down to earth. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, dense deodar forests, and pristine mountain air, Gangotri offers a spiritually uplifting and serene atmosphere.

Kedarnath Temple – The Abode of Lord Shiva One of the twelve Jyotirlingas (sacred shrines of Lord Shiva), located at a high altitude and accessible by a challenging trek.

Nestled at an altitude of 3,583 meters in the majestic Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, Kedarnath is one of the holiest pilgrimage destinations in India. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the ancient Kedarnath Temple is part of the sacred Char Dham and also one of the twelve revered Jyotirlinga shrines.

Surrounded by snow-clad peaks and the serene Mandakini River, Kedarnath offers a spiritually uplifting and visually breathtaking experience. The temple’s stone architecture, believed to date back over a thousand years, stands resilient amidst nature’s grandeur. The journey to Kedarnath—whether by trek, pony, palki, or helicopter—is an adventure filled with devotion and scenic beauty.

Badrinath Temple – The Sacred Abode of Lord Vishnu: Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, this holy town is situated amidst the breathtaking Garhwal Himalayas. Badrinath is one of the most revered pilgrimage destinations in India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the ancient Badrinath Temple forms an integral part of the sacred Char Dham Yatra and the all-India Char Dham circuit.

Set against the backdrop of the majestic Nar and Narayan mountain ranges and the holy Alaknanda River, Badrinath offers a divine blend of spirituality and natural beauty. The temple’s vibrant façade and sacred hot spring, Tapt Kund, add to its religious significance. Devotees believe that a visit to Badrinath washes away sins and leads to salvation.
