The mandir is situated on a mountain, 110 kilometers away from Pune. The Temple's vicinity has rare plant and animal species.[1] The mandir is located in Khed taluka, in the Bhimashankar forest range. The Bhima River originates from the Bhimashankar village, and the hills of the Manmad village are present near it, there are old rock carvings of the God Bhimashankar, Bhootings and Amba-Ambika on these hills.

Trimbakeshwar -  is an ancient Hindu Temple in the town of Trimbak, in the Trimbakeshwar tehsil in the Nashik District of Maharashtra, 28 km from the city of Nashik. It is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas where the Hindu genealogy registers at Trimbakeshwar, Maharashtra are kept. The origin of the sacred Godavari River is near Trimbak.[3]

Grushneshwar - Temple of Shiva in Verul village of Aurangabad district, Maharashtra. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlinga mandirs. The mandir is a national protected site, one and a half kilometers away from the Ellora Caves, 30 kilometres north-west of the city Aurangabad. Grushneshwar is mentioned in Shiva Purana, Skanda Purana, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

Aundha Nagnath (Nageshwaram) – It is a Temple in Hingoli District in the state of Maharashtra, an important place of pilgrimage. The present Temple is said to have been built by the Seuna (Yadava) dynasty and dates to 13th century. The first temple is said to be from time of the Mahabharata and is believed to have been constructed by Yudhishthira, eldest of the Pandavas, when they were expelled for 14 years from Hastinapur.

Parli Vaijnath -  It is said that Savitri and Satyavan lived here, and the famous incident of Savitri taking back her beloved husband's life from Yamraj took place here, around the Narayan Mountain. By this claim it can be inferred that Parali was once part of the Madra Kingdom, whose king was Ashvapati, the father of Savitri.

The young Sage Markandeya is also believed to have got the boon to live here in Parli Vaijnath[5] By this claim, since Markandeya had lived contemporarily to Mahabharata events, even have interacted with King Yudhishtira,[6] it can be understood that the Shivlinga of Vaijnath is at least of that time period and much possibly even before.

Mahakaleshwar

The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain has an ancient history, with origins possibly in the prehistoric period and a legend crediting Prajapita Brahma with the first establishment. Over the centuries, the temple has been demolished and rebuilt multiple times, notably by the Maratha General Ranoji Shinde in the 18th century, and it is mentioned in several ancient Indian poetic texts as a magnificent and spiritual site.

Omkareshwar

The fourth Jyotirlinga among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Bhagwan Shiva is Omkareshwar.
